"17 inches long x 31 inches wide x 22 inches high" That's what the listing says and the dimensions are why I chose to spend more to buy a large Vision Cage rather than the less expensive model. After assembling the cage in about fifteen minutes and setting it up the next day, it struck me that the cage didn't seem to be as large as expected; there was too much extra room on the table. I took some measurements and took them again - 27" by13" by 21" high. I went outside to look at the box to make sure I had actually bought a size large. I had. The size discrepancy is certainly a disapointment for myself and the two parakeets who had been promised so much more room.
For the most part Mrs. Spudman and I are satisfied with the Vision Bird Cage and especially the big, big improvement on the amount of seed hulls and feathers splattered on the table and the floor. With the Vision bird cage the daily mess has been reduced significantly. For that we are grateful.
Other issues -
Only two plastic perches come with the cage. We've supplemented them with the dowel perches from the previous cage and natural sticks picked up in the back yard. The birds love the natural perches, and I like the cost.
The cage has no pullout drawer for cleaning. This is a non issue for us because we seldom used the drawer on previous cage. Our birds are used to being lifted with their cage for cleaning and don't fly out.
To contain the seed mess the food dishes are mounted on the floor of the cage, one on each side. Above the food dish is a slip in protector/awning to keep bird poop out of the food. It mostly works.
I like the flat top of the cage compared to the peaked design of the Prevue cage. It makes for easier covering at night and gives the birds more free rein in the cage.
Two large, clip-locking doors are on the front of the cage. They open outward towards the human, but if you are't careful they'll fall inwardly and can be a chore to extract. The only other access are two openings at each end of the cage for the food dishes. The openings are generous. I wish there were a hinged opening on the top.
One has to be careful when moving the wired top for cleaning. Pressing too firmly could knock the sides our of alignment. I'm thinking about retrofitting a handle on top for easier, one-handed lifting.
Conclusion - Despite feeling cheated by getting a cage sized smaller than promised, we do like this cage and our birds seem to also. They are still getting used to having their food dishes so low, but hopefully that low feeding profile won't be a problem.
